Angoulême city and Plaine de la Beauce region, France
Vodka, the recession proof spirit. There is another new vodka brand and this one is from France. It is made in the Charente department, the same region that Grey Goose comes from. Moulin Vodka is handcrafted in the town of Angoulême, at the heart of the Charente region in the southwest of France. Distiller Jean-Marc Daucourt created Moulin as a tribune to his grandfather, Jean-Paul, who passed down his passion for making spirits.
Making Moulin Vodka
The vodka starts with high quality French wheat, harvested from the Plaine de la Beauce region, known for cereal production. It has distinct flavour profile due to the nutrient rich soil in which it grows.
THE WATER
Moulin vodka uses only the finest water, sourced from the Pyrenées Mountains. Filtered naturally through underground limestone, the water is cleansed of many negative minerals, nitrates, and salts, giving it a pure taste.
THE PROCESS
It employs a three-stage technique. The first involves distilling the vodka seven times to achieve the desired level of purity. Second is aeration with a flow of oxygen, going from the bottom to the top of the vat, releasing the bad esters and eliminating any impurities. Lastly, the vodka is charcoal filtered to maximize the spirit’s refinement.
