Amarula is a sweet and creamy liqueur from South Africa. It is made with sugar, cream, and the Marula tree fruit. Unlike many other cream liqueurs, Amarula is not made from a whisky or brandy base. The fruit is distilled to produce a spirit base. With a genuine African heritage, Amarula is more exotic than other cream liqueur brands. The liqueur has an alcohol content of 17% by volume. The liqueur was launched in 1983, and is one of the most distributed alcoholic beverages of South Africa. It is sold in 100 countries. The product is available in 3 sizes: 375ml (1/2 bottle), 750ml. and 1,14L. Other styles are: Gold, a non-cream, and Vanilla Spice.
