The Black Velvet is a beer cocktail made with stout beer usually Guinness and Champagne. Now, most bars or home bartenders use a local, good quality sparkling wine. The drink was first created at the Brook’s Club of London in 1861 to morn the death of Prince Albert. Originally, this drink was served in a beer tankard but these days it is served in a Champagne flute. The recipe calls for equal amount of beer and sparkling wine, but the amount can be adjusted depending on the person who makes the drink.
