Bloody Mary is a savory tomato-based drink that makes a great alternative to the typical fruity, sweet cocktail. One of the most famous cocktails of all time. Everyone claims to make the best Bloody Mary and many variations have concocted. It was created by Fernand ‘Pete’ Petriot of  Harry’s American Bar in Paris. After prohibition Fernand went to New York to become the bartender at the Regis. At the time, vodka was not  very popular, and difficult to get so it was replaced with gin. The Regis though that the drink’s name might not be suitable, and it was changed to the Red Snapper. The fame of the Bloody Mary came later when John Martin used it to promote a new liquor to the American market, Smirnoff vodka.
