Kir Royal is the sublime marriage of crème de cassis and Champagne. It all started with the Kir, a wine-based drink. History of the Kir Royal: it originated in Burgundy, France. It is named after Canon Felix Kir who was a hero in the French Resistance during WWII, and then was the mayor of Dijon from 1945-1968. He was interested in supporting the production of local products of Burgundy. As the story goes, once the upper class finally find out about this great cocktail, they elevated to Kir Royal sparkling cocktail.
