The Old-Fashioned is a strong, short drink for whisky lovers. So universal is this cocktail that a small straigh-sided tumbler is known as an old-fashioned glass. It was reportedly created at the Pendennis Club in Louisville, Kentucky,  in the late 1880s.  The bartender called its concoction ‘Old-Fashioned’ in honor of the bitters deemed to give it an antique flavor. Although the original was probably made with straight Kentucky bourbon, blended Canadian whisky is often used.
