The Pimm’s Cup isn’t well known in North America, but it is a lovely and refreshing long drink. This cocktail is typically served with a piece of cucumber, orange and mint. Pimm’s No 1 is the invention of James Pimm who ran a restaurant in London in the 1880s. Pimm devised a gin sling which was so unusual that he put it into commercial production. The concoction is a gin flavoured with herbs and liqueurs. Many years ago a total of six varieties of Pimm’s included: No 2 whisky based, No 3 brandy based, No 4 rum based, No 5 rye based, No 6 vodka based.  Today, you can only find the gin No 1.
