Ingredients

1 1/2 oz Mount Gay white rum
1 1/2 oz Mount Gay dark rum
1 oz Chambord Black Raspberry liqueur
1/2 oz Banana Liqueur
1 oz Orgeat syrup
1 oz Passion Fruit juice
4 oz Pineapple juice

Convert Units

Shake & Pour

1. Fill a mixing glass with ice.

2. Add in all the ingredients.

3. Shake.

4. Pour into a Poco Grande glass.

5. Garnish with a pineapple leaf, and/or a banana slice.

Variation

Substitute amaretto liqueur for the orgeat syrup.

The Rum Runner Special is a variation of the vintage cocktail, Rum Runner. The drink was invented at the Holiday Isle Tiki bar in Florida in the late 1950’s. As the story goes, a bartender on duty was confronted with the excess of rum and other liqueurs, and with the arrival of more inventory, he had to come up with a way to get rid of its stock, so he came up with a concoction marketable to tourists. As with all great recipes, changes are made as they are passed along. The rules of the recipe are meant to be altered, but for the Rum Runner you can not change the main ingredients: rum and pineapple juice. Overall this cocktail is packed with exotic fruit flavours.
