Strong & Complex

The Sangre Azul lowball  is from the 1972 ‘‘Trader Vic’s Bartender Guide‘  by Victor Bergeron. The original recipe does not specify the style of vermouth and the Pisco. I used sweet vermouth and white Pisco. I would describe Sangre Azul  as a complex Manhattan with a fuller texture. The Capel drink is soft with a floral essence, lime tones, and a medium body. Pisco is a type of brandy from South America. Peru and Chile have famously fought over the right to call Pisco, their own. The white Pisco is more appealing for cocktails.
