Sangrita (little blood) is from Mexico, and dates back to the 1920’s. Before the popularity in tequila, a mix of juices with a dash of spice was a customary partner to a shot of tequila blanco. Traditionally, tequila and Sangrita are each poured into separate glass and the two are alternately sipped, not chased. Outside Mexico there’s no standard recipe, and Sangrita recipes are as varied as they are for guacamole. This cocktail combines tequila blanco, fresh orange juice, tomato juice, fresh lime juice, and a dash of pomegranate syrup.
