Shandy Beer Cocktail
Shandy is a classic, light and refreshing beer drink. The traditional recipe is an ale beer mixed with a citrus-flavoured soda, or ginger ale, although other flavour soft drinks can be used such as 7-up or Sprite. The proportion of the two ingredients is adjusted to personal taste, but normally it’s half-and-half. In some parts of the United Kingdom the word ‘shandy’ is also a euphemism for alcoholic drink. We used a pale ale style of beer to keep it light. In France, Shandy is called Panaché.
