Salsa Caesar – Savory & Spicy

The Salsa Caesar is a modern and spicy version of the vintage Caesar. The Bloody Caesar is the most popular drink in Canada. It is savory vodka-based cocktail that makes a refreshing alternative to the traditional range of sweet cocktails. The Caesar was created in 1969 at the Calgary’s Westin Hotel. To commemorate the opening of a new restaurant, the Calgary Westin Hotel sponsored a contest to develop a new cocktail. Bartender Walter Chell spent months perfecting the combination of tomato juice, clam nectar, lime, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, and vodka to win the contest. The Motts company worked with Chell to create what is now called clamato juice.
