Amarula – The Spirit Of Africa
Amarula is a sweet and creamy liqueur from South Africa. It is made with sugar, cream, and the Amarula tree fruit. Unlike many other cream liqueurs, Amarula is not made from a whisky or brandy base. The Marula fruit is distilled to produce a fruit spirit base. With a genuine African heritage, Amarula is more exotic than other cream liqueur brands. The liqueur has an alcohol content of 17% by volume. The liqueur was launched in 1983, and is one of the most distributed alcoholic beverages of South Africa. It is sold in 100 countries. Amarula is available in 3 sizes: 375ml (1/2 bottle), 750ml. and 1,14L .
The Marula tree is medium size and indigenous to the Miamba woodlands of Southern Africa. The Marula fruit has a light yellow skin with white flesh. The Marula fruit tree attracts many wild animals especially elephants, and is sometimes referred to as the ‘elephant tree’. Elephants travel miles to gorge themselves on this delicious fruit. They have been known to ram the tree to dislodge their favourite snack if none of the fruits have fallen to the ground. Also, the Marula tree plays a unique role in local tribal legend as the fruit is believed to have aphrodisiac properties, and to this day tribal weddings take place beneath its branches. The fruit features in local fertility rites.

For those of you wondering, Amarula is amazing to spike egg nog with.
I feel like it used to be hard to find in the USA? Did that change, recently?
Like the comments of our friends here, the expiry date at the back is none readable for ordinary people. We only see a bunch of numbers written at the back of the bottle, can anyone help us out in cracking the code to obtain the real expiry date please?
I do not know. You’ll have to find out for yourself.
Good day
Can I mix Amarula and gin and how is the taste?

No, I don’t think it is safe to drink it now.

apart from guessing that the bottom is “TIME” and batch No. and DATE OF MANUFACTURE
and maybe the D is April. but since i bought this in Germany, I started searching for German expiration date codes, didn’t find anything. this thread got me back on track.
so, this is me 1 days before 2020 searching the internet like its 98′ (haven’t search for something this long for ages, and not a clue) and studying the shit out of expiration dates and labeling international products, whilst drinking the Amarula and convincing myself, every second sip, that its fine. I got concerned because the cap was suck hard…anyway, I really hope this makes it to someone who know this stuff fast.
best regards and CHEERS.

Expiry mentioned like this, what is the real expiry of this ?
Hello,
I never looked for an expiring date because the bottle is finished within a year. I keep all my cream liqueurs in the fridge. The rule of thumb is that cream liqueurs, like Amarula, will keep about 1 to 2 years if it stores in a cool place.

A bottle will last about 2 years if you keep it in a cool environment. Once opened kept the bottle in the fridge and drink it within 1 year.
Hope that helps.

Hello Rajesh,
A bottle of Amarula liqueur can last 2 to 3 years if it is stored in a cool temperature environment. I don’t know if your bottle is still good, so you’ll have to open it and find out. Once opened kept the bottle in the fridge.

Hello Cornelia,
There is no expiry date on the bottle. In general, an open bottle will last about 2 years if you keep in the fridge.
pls advice where do I check for an expiry date or best before on the amarula bottle?
I wouldn’t think so.
I bought a bottle of Amarula on a cruise ship more than 10 years ago. It’s never been opened. Do you think it’s still safe to be consumed? Thanks for your response; this question has been on my mind for quite some time.

i want this bottel in my place in maharashtra but it will be thick and frozen….pls send mail on my id
One of my favourite drinks is Amarula and Fireball whisky.
I love the drink its the best cream drink I ever had
Hello,
Amarula is a smooth, creamy liqueur. This thicken/frozen texture is not a good sign. You should be on the cautious side in regards to creamy liqueurs. I personally would not drink it.
I have Amarula liqueur bottle but it is thicken/frozen . Should i consume it or it can be used in any form.
